The International Conference on Applied Economics (ICOAE) is an annual conference that started in 2008 aiming to bring together economists from different fields of Applied Economic Research in order to share methods and ideas. There is a growing interest in the field of Applied Economics for data estimation methods, tests and techniques.
The conference aspires to make a contribution in the field and it will be of interest to the members of the academia, research students and researches in applied economic research (in both methods and applications). Further, it will be of interest to officials exercising economic policy due to the focus of the conference to country specific studies with economic policy conclusions.
About 130 articles are submitted each year from about 40 countries with an acceptance rate of about 60%. All papers that are accepted for publication in the proceedings are subject to double-blind peer review. The conference was founded by the Department of Economics (ex Department of International Trade) University of Western Macedonia in 2008 and it is organised annually with the co- operation of a local University.

This year’s conference is co-organised by the Hellenic Open University and the Department of Economics of the University of Western Macedonia, Greece. ICOAE2020 will take place from 2-4 July 2020 in Heraklion Crete, Greece hosted by the Hellenic Open University and the co-chair of the conference Prof. George Agiomirgianakis.
Conference proceedings are published by a respective international publisher, currently Springer, under the series “Springer Proceedings in Business and Economics”.
