In order to fulfill its educational and research aims, the Laboratory of Economic Analysis and Policy seeks to access important national and extensive libraries and databases in various fields of economics, labor, education, technology and social conditions.

About a year ago, the Laboratory of Economic Analysis and Policy took the initiative to gain access to "microdata" database of the EUROSTAT.

"Micro data" are "units" of data from which aggregate statistics are derived. That is because, they consist of sets of files containing information about individual respondents or business entities. In order to protect the anonymity of respondents (individuals, organizations), the access to microdata is limited. Only recognized research bodies have access to this data, following strict confidentiality procedures and taking specific measures to protect data.

The Hellenic Open University, as of 10.04.2019 is a recognized research entity by EUROSTAT (ID number: 2019/014 / EL). Whereas, since 25.07.2019, the Laboratory of Economic Analysis and Policy has access to the "micro-data" of the European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) for conducting a research entitled: "Estimating corruption in South Eastern Europe: results from an expenditure-based approach".

Also, the Laboratory also has access to the ICAP database called “Icap Data Prisma”.
